From Jeff Skurda
As the club may well know the repeater has been in an up/down status, currently though the 440 repeater is now rock solid. The repeater now has a Comet GP15 7ft. tall antenna. The new combiner is presently in. The 2 meter repeater & cavities are in with new components and does require a little more tuning. The 2 meter power amplifier needs a 2 meter power supply and to adjust the transmit/ receive sensitivity. The club has a verbal response of 2 meter coordination from MARC, and we will wait for proper authorization from the MARC coordination organization. DVR commands will be programmed for the repeater. The tech chairman asked the users to remember courtesy; use courtesy beep to avoid quick keying. Echolink ID’s when active. There will be no monitoring using Echolink, there is a cutoff time active to allow 10 to 20 users at a time. Echolink is currently linked to the 440 repeater presently.
There was an open discussion of Echolink and unauthorized users.
The general consensus was to leave Echolink as it is currently.
Motion by Jim Odam N8DMW and seconded by Blake Arnold KC8PQA.
Information was made available to club members for members use only. for DTMF commands and Echolink. Nodes can be linked to another repeater by knowing the node number you would like to connect to and then using the DTMF commands to connect and disconnect.
Elections
Since we are coming up to election time, at the November meeting we are to have our nominations for club officers; at the December meeting we will have elections. According to our by-laws, the president must be a full-time GM employee.
Nets
From Dave Edenfield
NCO’s were asked to volunteer for the Information Net on the sign-up sheet that was passed around.
Jeff Skurda asked that members that did not receive the e-mail
from Jeff
Skurda about putting the repeater up on the RenCen to give him your current
e-mail address so that he may keep you up to date on club news if e-mail is to
be the method of contact.
50/50 Drawing
$36 was collected, and $18 was won by Mike Koenig N5WCS with the other half going to the club.
An open discussion was held about Macomb Co. RACES during power outages.
The back-up repeater location is to be discussed next month.
There was also an open discussion about club activities with non-profit organizations.
The general agreement is if an organization approaches the club for communication support for a good cause the club would allow it. (such as Walk-a-thons, or other non-profit organizations’ activities)
T.J. Iley N8RUJ makes the motion and was seconded by Ed Young N8RUH. Motion passed.
