GMARC Minutes for May, 2004

President Scott [New Call W1BIC] called meeting to order at 7:06pm.

Introductions were made, and a total of 32 attended.

April meeting minutes are posted on web site. N5WCS Mike made a motion to accept them, W1IK Jim seconded, and the minutes were approved.

N8RUH T.J. gave treasurer's report. N8OKW Jim made a motion to accept, N8YJI Dina seconded, and the report was approved.

By-Laws Revision Update – KC8YWH Bobby reported that next month he would have proposed By-Laws changes for a vote by the membership to provide for Honorary Memberships. The consensus was that a 2/3 majority of members present at a meeting would be required to grant an Honorary Membership, and the proposed changes will reflect this requirement. Proposed changes will be sent by USPS mail to all members, and we will vote at the June 18th meeting. Absentee ballots must be sent to Secretary N8UWO Kevin and received prior to the June meeting.

Field Day - Concerns were expressed about joint activities with another club for Field Day 2004.Everyone was in agreement that if we are going to have a specific GMARC Field Day that we should take the time to plan and do it correctly.

Coffee - Another request was made for someone to retain the coffee supplies, and bring in for each meeting. The suggestion was made for a volunteer to just take it for one month at a time rather than be an “all the time” responsibility.

Technical Report – K8GEO George reported that our CAT Weather Controller can be upgraded to accept the Amber Alerts (for missing children). The cost and capability of this upgrade will be reported at a subsequent meeting.

Many THANKS to KC8RPL Bob for the new and improved GMARC Web Site. The new site layout has significant improvements for navigation, and is much more aesthetic than the previous design.
