GMARC MEETING MINUTES 19-SEP-08

I.  Call to Order by President, Ingo AC8AW at 7:04 PM.

II.  Introductions & Upgrades

There were 2 Visitors present -   Tom KD8GZE, Dan KB6NU.  In addition there were 2 Visitors who phoned-in to this meeting – Gary KI4LA, and John NB4K.

Tom KD8GZE has upgraded to Amateur Extra

III.  Minutes

Minutes of the 17-Jun-08 meeting are available at the meeting and on the GMARC Web Site, and printed copies were available to those present.

Motion to approve the June Minutes by Dave W8RIT and seconded by Mike N5WCS.  Motion passed.

IV.  Treasurer’s Report

            Joel WU8Y, our Treasurer, was not present.  No report of our bank balance was available.  The Antenna Fund had $1,070.20 as of 17-Jun-08, and $1,834.20 as of 16-Sep-08.

            No motion was made regarding financial data presented.

V.  Membership Report by Bobby N8CY

            We have 35 members in good standing, who have paid their 2008 dues.  

VI.  Club Picnic

           Ingo AC8AW noted that we have a small crowd and a large amount of food.  There was a minor “Lark In The Park”, but few contacts were made.  A good time was had by all who attended.  We hope to have a much larger turnout next year.  Any thoughts on increasing turnout among our members (and Visitors are welcome) would be appreciated.  A significant amount of Club money was spent on a pavilion rental and food for the limited number of attendees.

VII.  Club Liaison Report

No report given.

VIII.  Tech Committee Report

           No report.  Pictures were shown of a small commercial 2-meter radio in a computer case.

IX.  Old Business

            Tom KD8GZE requested that the GMARC Club Logos be sent to his eMail address.  This has been accomplished.

X.  New Business

XI.  Break from 7:45 PM to 7:45 PM

            The 50/50 raffle winner was Kurt WU8V $16.00, and “Booby Prize” to Mike N5WCS $1.00 who donated his winnings to the Antenna Fund. ($16 to Club).

XII.  Program – Interviews with Prospective Vice-Directors of ARRL GL Division

            The three candidates for Vice-Director of the ARRL Great Lakes Division were either present (in person) or (by phone) and gave their views on why they felt they were the best qualified to be elected via secret ballot to be mailed to all ARRL members in the GL Division eligible to vote in the election:

XIII.  New Members & Attendance

            19 Members attended, and there were 4 Visitors.
